20-21 Season: Ultimate Goal
IEEE UV 2020 - 1/20/21
Community Sharing - 1/2/21
To continue sharing the FIRST program, we hosted a zoom call with 50 participants. The majority of the audience was young kids because our team wants to make FIRST knowledgeable in our community, so we can recruit younger members in the future for our team to last. Our team partnered with Hyper Geek Turtles, another FTC team, to explain the different departments of FTC as well as compare it to FLL. At the end of the session we had a q&a.

Veeva Sharing - 12/22/20
This year, one of our goals is to reach up to the engineering community and learn more about STEM from professionals. Although it was virtual, we still utilized this opportunity to identify how real-world companies operate and work through the pandemic. We prepared a brief presentation regarding the FIRST program and our team as well as a robotic demonstration.

Scratch Lessons with Lockwood Elementary - Ongoing
We have worked with Lockwood Elementary for the past two years, going to their school in Oakland to give a presentation on what STEM is to hundreds of kids in order to give them an opportunity to be exposed to STEM. However, this year because of COVID-19 we couldn’t visit the students so we instead taught weekly classes over zoom to teach the students how to use scratch. Every Saturday we meet with 5 students for an hour over zoom. When the trimester ends, 5 new students are chosen to join our class.

Voyager 6+ FTC Handbook
We created the FTC handbook, a website filled with information and advice we’ve learned throughout the years as a veteran team. It includes the rudiments of FTC and is posted online for easy access. We utilize this resource when teaching aspiring students about FTC. We aim to use the handbook as a guide for rookie teams.
Face Mask Assembly and Donation - Summer 2020
To give back and lower covid-19 activity within our community, V6+ built and donated face shields to medical professionals. We efficiently and carefully constructed the masks with accessible materials like rubber bands and plastic. With over 200 face shields, we gave back to community clinics in San Jose, CA and the Navajo Nation. Our contributions helped improve the state of our community.
